Creating activities
The five Sequal activity types — exercise, cadence, media, break and announcement — and how to set each one up.
An activity is the smallest building block in Sequal. Every activity has a type that decides how it plays. Create one with the + button on Home, then choose Activity.
The five activity types
Exercise
Timed work with sets and reps and rest between them — for example “3 sets of 12 reps, 30 seconds each, 20 seconds rest”. An exercise can also include a metronome cadence, media, breathing phases and spoken cues.
Cadence
A metronome-paced rhythm in beats per minute (BPM). Use it for breathwork, rowing, running drills, skipping or any tempo-based activity. You can set the time signature and beat subdivisions.
Media
Play an audio track or video for a set duration — uploaded from your device, recorded in the app, or streamed from YouTube. Great for guided segments or a backing track.
Break
A rest period with an optional spoken cue, like “Water break — 60 seconds”. Use breaks to pace a longer session.
Announcement
A spoken script with no timer — a quick voice instruction between activities, such as “Grab your mat and find some space”.
Common settings
Whatever the type, you can add:
- a name and description;
- tags, so you can find it later via search;
- a cover image (cropped on your device);
- spoken cues at the start and end;
- media (see Media & recording).
Activities are reusable. Once you’ve made one, you can drop it into as many groups, sequences and programs as you like — you don’t have to recreate it.
Drafts
You can build an activity as a draft and commit it to your library when it’s ready, or discard it.
